Zayani Motors Showcases Mitsubishi Motor Sport Heritage at GFBIMS

Zayani Motors, the exclusive distributors of Mitsubishi in the Kingdom of Bahrain recently participated in the first ever Gulf Air Bahrain International Motor Show (GFBIMS) that took place at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) from the 1st to the 3rd of May.

Zayani Motors’ outstanding presence at the event was highlighted with an innovatively designed garage that incorporated a unique ‘ rally and motor sports’ theme and showcased their latest range of Mitsubishi vehicles including EVO IX, L200, Grandis and the recently launched powerful Pajero 2007.

‘The International Motor Show has attracted spectators from far and wide and has provided us with a unique platform to showcase some of our finest machines,’ said Zayani Motors Marketing Manager, Mr. Mohamed Sabra.

Since its introduction in 1982, Pajero has established a rock-firm reputation among customers as an all-round sport-utility vehicle that delivers go-anywhere off-road performance with high-speed cruising performance and the lavish comfort of a sedan.

Over the years, and even today, Mitsubishi Pajero has been acclaimed as a global best-seller. With an illustrious history and readymade credibility, Mitsubishi Pajero has successfully wooed adventure-spirited motorists all over the world since its launch in the early 1980s.

‘The event has also provided us with an excellent opportunity to communicate the glorious motor sport heritage of Mitsubishi Motors. In the 27-year history of the world’s most famous off-road rally no manufacturer of cars and trucks can match Mitsubishi’s winning record,’ Mr. Sabra further added.

Mitsubishi Motors’ involvement in motors sports, especially the Dakar Rally is instilled in the heart of the Mitsubishi Motors brand. Through motor sport, the evolution of the Pajero over four generations has improved in terms of durability, safety, road performance and driving capability. The all-conquering Mitsubishi Pajero was even entered in the 2007 Dakar Rally in Senegal where it claimed its seventh successive victory. The success was a record-breaking 12th win in the team’s 25-year history of competing in the world’s toughest and most famous off-road rally.

Since its introduction, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution has existed solely to succeed in the World Rally Championship. The Lancer Evolution’s record is unmatched with seven consecutive titles from 1995 to 2001. Its success even progresses to the Asia-Pacific Rally Championship, where five titles have been won by Mitsubishi drivers. In 2004, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution drivers also had an impressive run in the FIA Production Car World Rally Championship, winning six of the seven rounds of the series.

The Evolution series has been true to its name, representing a methodical motor sport development process that has brought about some truly awe-inspiring street cars.
